Kia Ora, I’m Fiona. Welcome to my webpage & thanks for visiting!
I’d like to tell you a little bit about myself and my background.
I’m originally a farm girl, from Kilkenny, Ireland. We were a ‘horse mad’ family, this involved plenty of hard work and spending a lot of time outdoors. My childhood was filled with weekends spending time at show jumping events. My small statue didn’t go unnoticed and the nickname ‘half pint’ is one that I guess I’m still trying to outgrow!!
An interest in Science and Health Care led me to studying Physiotherapy at University and I graduated with Honours in 2009. Shortly after, I packed my bag, upped sticks and said “Slan Abhaile” or ”See ya later” to Ireland, embarked on an adventure and eventually landed in New Zealand.
Upon settling in New Zealand, I quickly discovered and embraced the Kiwi outdoor way of life. I soon found myself hooked on running in the hills, kayaking down rivers and riding bikes in the backcountry. My love of the outdoors along with a keen interest in exploring and pushing my limits led me to competing in Multisport races. The Coast to Coast has been a race that has grabbed my interest, focus and commitment over the past few years. Winning the 2-day event in 2014 in my first outing and following this up with 3 podium finishes to date in the Longest Day, dubbed the World Multisport Championships. Outside of Coast to Coast I have enjoyed some spectacular and gnarly trail running races – placing 2nd in The Goat Adventure Run and 3rd in The Routeburn Classic. Admittedly I’m now an endurance junkie who enjoys a good leg thrashing and expect to be using all my Physio tricks on myself in the future!
I am currently working as a Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and have recently started teaching Pilates. I am passionate about movement, health and the human body. I enjoy mixing my Physio skills with my sporting knowledge and experience. This combination provides a great platform to help me get the most out of myself and in turn support my clients to do the same.
Experiences are what really make me tick and I have found that multisport and adventures are the perfect way of gaining a full spectrum of life experiences.
